Bancroft Middle School is having their Cougar Camp - New Student Orientation on Wednesday, August 9th at 9am. During our orientation you will meet some of our staff, see the schools, get important information on our programs, pick up textbooks and more!.

The textbook room will be open from Wednesday, August 9th to Friday, August 11th from 9am to 2pm.

The 20-Week Report Cards were mailed home on 6/13/2017.

Eight Grade Student Eligibility

Students must earn 65 credits.  Students must meet district eligibility requirements to participate in school field trips, 8th grade activities and culmination.  

Eight Grade Activities

All activities including culmination are a privilege. It is important to maintain good grades, good cooperation, good work habits, good attendance, and good behavior to participate in this year’s activities. The Spring ten-week grading period will determine eligibility for activities. 8th grade students must have 65 credits out of the possible 80 credits and no more than four “U’s” and 10 unexcused tardies to participate in 8th grade activities and culmination. 

Eight Grade Culmination Ceremony

  1. Students must earn 65 credits out of the possible 80 credits to be eligible for the Certificate of Completion. (Students will earn 5 credits for passing each semester course with a “D” or better; grades from all subject areas will be used to determine credits earned in eighth grade)
  2. Students may not receive more than 4 U’s in COOPERATION and/or WORK HABITS on the final spring report card. (Three (3) unexcused tardies to a class will earn a “U” in Work Habits; tardies are cumulative from the first day of school)
  3. Students must clear all school debts including library, textbooks, attendance, and detentions.
  4. Students must not sustain any serious disciplinary infractions during the 8th grade year.
  5. Students must abide by school and District policies with respect for student conduct and school property.
  6. Students may NOT exceed a total of ten (10) unexcused tardies in A SCHOOL YEAR, for eligibility in any school activity including Culmination Ceremony.  Refer to LAUSD Student/Parent Handbook for district attendance policy.

The school policy and compact was sent home with your child on Friday December 2, 2016. A copy of the compact (orange page) needs to be signed by both you and your child and sent back to the school. Thank you!! An electronic copy is posted on the Parent Center page.

Bancroft Middle School is having their first Spring Showcase. Broadway @ Bancroft will perform musical numbers from Broadway Shows. Students are learning and working on performance, technique, character development, movement, and choreography.

There will be late buses for students who take the school bus.

Parents, the District Title I Parent Involvement Policy was mailed to you on October 24, 2016. If you did not receive it, please pick up a copy in the Main Office. An electronic copy is posted on the Parent Center page.
